Pound Collections Motorcycle Recovery
Having your vehicle impounded can cause all kinds of disruption to your life. Furthermore, as you are usually charged for storage until you can retrieve it, it can be a costly lesson learned for driving not in accordance with your license. If your bike has been impounded for other reasons, such as being stolen and being involved in a crime, you have other recourses available to you. Check out the Met Police website for more information.
If you don’t produce the necessary paperwork to get the motorcycle released to you within a designated period of time (usually around 14 days), they are often crushed. So, if you can’t pick your bike up quickly, you stand to lose the vehicle entirely.
Don’t worry. Providing you have the correct documentation in place, Oneplace2save should be able to help.
If the bike is in good condition, you may just be able to ride it home, once you have reclaimed the vehicle. However, if it is damaged in some way, that may not be an option.
Even if you don’t intend to drive it on a public road, you will need to produce a valid certificate of motor insurance that permits the release of a vehicle impounded by a government authority before your vehicle will be released to you.
But, with all this stress, the last thing you want to be worrying about is how you are going to get the bike back to your home or garage.
That’s where we come in. We’re not here to judge or make life more difficult for you. We’re just here to help you get your bike back home, for an affordable rate, with minimum fuss.
Oneplace2save has more than a decade’s experience in transporting motorbikes and scooters. We handle hundreds of bikes a year, and we know how to transport bikes safely and efficiently, no matter what condition they are in.
Riding in the Van
With a few exceptions – such as the registered owner being hospitalised, out of the country, in custody, being disabled, or having other compelling medical or compassionate reasons not to attend – it must be the licenced owner who retrieves the bike from the pound.
Except in these cases, when a third-party may be permitted to retrieve the bike on your behalf, you will need to pick up the bike yourself. This means that you need to get to the pound, get the bike signed back over to you, and get it back to its final destination.
We’re more than happy for you to ride in the van with us. You can ride upfront with us on the way to the pound and, once the bike is safely loaded up, we’ll deliver you both back to wherever you both need to be taken.
Fully-Equipped Vans
Oneplace2save regularly recovers and transports motorcycles from houses and garages, pounds, and even performs emergency rescues from accidents or breakdowns.
As such, we operate a fleet of vans which are specifically designed to transport large and valuable items such as motorcycles and scooters.
Bikes are loaded into the vans by our strong and careful movers using ramps. Once in the van, your bike will be secured by a stand, straps and harnesses designed to ensure the bike in an upright and stable position. In doing so, you can have peace of mind that your bike won’t slide, roll, fall over, or bump into anything to cause damage on its journey.
We are covered by Public Liability and Goods in Transit insurance (included in your quote as standard) to give you extra peace of mind.
Recovery of Non-Roadworthy Bikes
If your bike has been deemed non-roadworthy, you can hire us as a licensed recovery operator to retrieve it for you. In this instance, you can either come with us in the van as described above or write a letter of authority for us to produce at the pound on your behalf, along with the other proper documentation.
In this case, we can then load and secure the bike at the pound and deliver it to your chosen destination at a time which is convenient to you.
The Cost of Recovery
Hiring a man with a van to help you to retrieve your impounded motorbike may seem like an extra unnecessary expense at what could be a costly time.
However, when you factor in the cost of keeping it at the pound, and the potential cost of it being destroyed if you miss the deadline, it could be the most cost-effective solution.
We pride ourselves on offering affordable man and van services and our personalised quoting system means you can see exactly what you will be paying upfront. There are no hidden costs, and, more importantly, you can get your bike back and hopefully put the incident behind you.
